Turning the Corner

There is no doubt that 2020 has been a challenging year that no one will forget. It would be easy to say that it is the worst year ever, but don’t be so quick to give up on it just yet. A report compiled by researchers from the University of Alabama Culverhouse School of Business suggests that economically, things will get back to normal by the middle of 2021. So, there has never been a better time to get prepared to find the job of your dreams or to change industries.

While some industries have struggled through 2020, many have flourished. The manufacturing sector is one such industry that has seen a strong demand for new employees. These positions include production, forklift, warehouse and administration. Many of these companies were considered essential businesses, so even in the midst of the pandemic, there was job security where in other industries there was none.

There is great hope in the resilience of the industries that took the greatest hit during 2020, including hospitality, restaurants, and retail. While some employees have already transitioned into finding other employment, there will be a great need for viable candidates as the economy continues to recover.
